I just tried introducing a small chalk goby to clean my sand. As soon as my Picasso saw it it frantically chased him and almost killed him. Luckily I got him in the refugium. Will he survive down there with no sand but loads of pods until he's a bit bigger? What can I do? I've never seen him behave like that before. It's almost as if he thought it was food.

They are a predator and can eat smaller fish :) So ya.. he thought it was fresh food!

I would not leave a sand sifting goby in a bare bottom fuge to it's own. See if you can target feed it twice a day or such or honestly... just take it back. Maybe try a XL goby and add after the lights go out.
