So I bought the pickling lime as a replacement for kalkwasser. What I want to know is what is the amount of powder to water to mix up, for how long, and any gotchas? I plan to add the mixture to the ato to let it go in slowly. If not that then I will use an inverted water bottle and airline hose with a valve to let it drip into the return in the sump.
thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have a question. Why?
Did you buy lab grade lime?
Picking lime can have all sorts of things in it you dont want to spike in your tank. Like arsenic and copper.
Some are safe. But most end up just using kalk from Brs Or local LFS..
Ive used it a few times but always worried about it after checking the tank all the time this and that.

Best of luck to you

fair question but to answer, 1) it is much cheaper (mrs wages is the brand and it has 1 ingredient) 2) tons of posts on here and other sites from reefers who use it. 3) I change water nearly every week, 2 at the most so any chance at it being bad is negligible IMO. 4) I want to try something new and not one store had just kalk they all had newer mixed powders with all kinds of things in it. I would rather add 1 thing at a time.
