Pineapple sponges

So if this is actually a temperate sponge how did they end up in reef tanks? Of course with a name like pineapple sponge they work perfectly in a reef tank! I was researching where they come from last night. Mine will be around a while since I dose sodium silicate.

There are many species of marine aquaria fauna that are not affected by temperature as much as coral or certain fish. For example I definitely have some cold water invertebrates like limpets and micro- brittles in my tropical tank.
We have ships that travel the world, Tsunamis, global warming and the great ocean garbage patch. All of these things allow critters from all over the globe to visit exotic places and maybe take root.
