My sump looks like that too! Crazy little things are everywhere.
 
For me personally, I find them disgusting. Lol

They are brought in on frags or live rock and just multiple like crazy in dark areas of the tank. The more nutrients available, the faster they multiply.
 
They are a normal part of a healthy system. As mentioned above - if there are too many it is because there are too many nutrients in the water for them to feed off of.
 
Is that what I have here? Or is this something else? They’re in my overflows and filter socks.

Possibly.......they have a "feather" at the end where they pull in nutrients. This pic is out of the water though so that might be why it isn't visible. If you have lots of them in dark areas, then they are probably the sponges.
