I would frag a peice off of it and dip it. With it eroding from the base like that makes it appear it is some kind of pest. My tank was up for a few years with no changes and additions and this just appeared. Use Coral Rx and a magnifying glass.

Sorry, didn't want to leave the post. Got tied up in the tank. My parameters are Mag 1410, Cal-385, Alk-9.4, PO4- 0.02, Potassium-310, Spec Gravity-1.025. No nitrates dectected. It has been in the same spot since the start. The flow is not too much and the tissue recession is on the back opposite the flow side. I have a bubble magus doeser doing BRS/Cal/Alk/Mag and I test every 2 days. It has been very consistent. Temp is at 79 and stays constant.

I can't remove the coral from the rock due to encrusting. I can't see anything with the eye either with or without the lights on. I just noticed another piece of Paradise BirdsNest at the bottom of the tank doing the same thing. Definitely not a flow or light issue.

Where to from here?
