Hello. So this is my second week actively skimming on my relatively freshly cycled 150g and when I went to clean out my skimmer cup I was surprised to see that there was a pinkish purple layer in the cup that was not there last week.

Has anyone ever seen something like this before? Right now there are just some snails, crabs, and a few coral in the tank. I'm feeding NLS algaemax pellets until more substantial algae growth occurs, with a weekly dose of home grown phyto to boost pod populations.

I know from my clinical microbiology class that certain bacteria can produce colors like this so maybe that's what's causing it. Does anyone have any theories as to what could be happening here?
