Aww that sucks :(
I had one for a few months before he killed his goby and completely rearranged my scape. I got rid of him.

I have two pistol shrimps in two separate tanks. They both make the popping noise, they seem to do it more when they are hungry. Definitely more at night. Mine where taking out my hermits and crabs as well until I started feeding them.
I started out by using the grabber that I use for the tank and shoving a piece or two of freezed dried shrimp into the sand bed right next to the rock work where I thought they would be.
With in a week it got to the point that I now put the shrimp into the water on the grabber near the rock and they come right out and grab it.
No more dead tank mates.
Another thing to spot feed but hey nobody ever said this hobby was easy

What makes you think the Pistol killed the Goby. Eye witness?
Yea, when they went into the tank together they separated and never "paired" back up. he went into the pistols cave one day and I heard popping. I kept finding pieces of him for the next 2 days :/
They were paired at the LFS but never in my tank
