Can anyone confirm from personal experience if it is the male or female crabs who have the large claws?

I found a site saying it is the females with the large defensive claws, and males with small claws, however looking at the undercarriage the small clawed crabs appear female and the ones with large claws appear male to me. I no longer have the big clawed one, so cannot compare them in person anymore.

At least in the case of Pitho aculeata, the males of the species have bigger claws, but this may vary from one species to another in the genus.
