I have had this plate coral for about 8 months. About 5 months in it receded and never came out. Im not even sure if its still alive or not. This plate is very light pink. Almost highlighter pink color. Not sure if you can tell from the pics but it has retained its color but one portion if it hasnt and it seems dead.

At the mouth, at least once a week, there is this brown crud. Seems as if it threw it up. But again 3 months straight it hasnt come out, no tentacles showing.

Not sure if its alive or not. Anyone have this issue with plates before?

Seems like my tank has always had issues with plates. This was my 3rd attempt with a plate. The others turned solide white and were dead but this one hasnt.

All my corals are thriving. Nothing is showing any signs.

Any ideas?

As much information about your environmental conditions, any significant events in the last 8 months and any tests as you can provide will help. It's alive but is not in good shape. The brown crud is poop from when it feeds. It looks badly bleached to me, it can recover but you need to figure out why it bleached (lighting, nutrients, something else?).

Salinity 1.026
Nitrate 0
Phosphate 0
Calcium 450
pH 8.6

Keep in mind I have very little hair algae and bubble algae that im fighting so it might be taking in the phosphate and nitrate to cause 0 readings.

Im gonna try moving it to lower flow and lower lighting maybe a shaded area
