Please Don't Use Fed Ex

I am still waiting on a CHERRY coral package from them that was shipped over 4 months ago. Yep.......

Well i am not usually one to defend fedex, but they have legitimate reasons for delays if your flight is going through the midwest. The fire warning you saw were caused by extremely high winds that frequently cause aborted landings and often crosswind runways to be shut down, reducing the flights that can arrive and takeoff.

I am all for bashing fedes when deserved, but a two hour delay caused by an airport that was under red flag warnings does not seem so bad.

I agree with this. I spent a while last night on flightaware and the list of delayed airports was the longest ive seen in 2011. It wasnt just one area of the US delayed either. The east and the west coast are both being affected by storms and with them the delays spread to the midwest where its clear, it has a ripple affect. What im getting at tho is that that fedex plane could often fly somewhere before your route. For example (i dont know your location) that same plane could be making a flight to and from JFK in the AM and be delayed in JFK over 3 hours. This then spreads to the following flight it makes in the PM to your location. Now not only is that plane 3 hours behind but any additional delays in memphis due to wind and or traffic in the airports airspace is going to add to the 3 hours. Weather has more of an affect on the airlines as a whole making times then i think the public realizes. Moral of the story tho is dont go sending stuff out when there is major weather systems on both fronts of the country. Patience, is key in this hobby and i think it is as well with shipping.

In all ya, it sucks. I hope everything works out for you and better luck in the future tho.

I would NOT want to be there when you open up that battered old box :P Did you get any decent "excuse" for it not arriving?

i bought a pair of WC adult 4" latz and they were shipped overnight via fedex and i picked them up cause fedex is never on time if they come at all. so i pick up every time now. but the male was doa and now the $1200 i bought the pair for now is worthless. i did get refunded, but its not the point. some jackwagon i bet too the box and shook the **** out of it cause it had live fish all over it. the box was white and it was in perfect shape. now i am out of a beautiful pair of latz and now i gotta find a male for my lady.
fedex blows.

when I ship corals, I don't even use FedEx or UPS, I just drop them corals into a used ziplock baggie, stick it it any box I can find, slap as few stamps as possible on the box with a hastly scribbled name and address, then stick it in the mailbox with the little red flag up the night before I want it mailed out :)

Hhhhmmmm ***note to self, don't order from tangboy***

That oughta be nasty when it shops up. I know we had a lot of packages that would open up when I worked for UPS, and they simply got pulled and sent off to a warehouse somewhere never to be seen again. I guess they figured it was easier to pay insurance than to spend a lot of time trying to repair a box. Could be what happened to yours.

I have a pretty good record with Fedex, until today.:( My acan was shipped from Texas to CA on Wed and I wont get it till Fri. At least acans are pretty hardy.

FedEx had issues today for sure..... My package that was supposed to be here at 10:30 is just now (12:45) showing that it isn't going to be here until 3:00. Hope my acans do okay with the few extra hours....

Technically this is in their rules already supposedly.

They are only supposed to ship live animals for zoos, or pet suppliers.

actually no its not
they only ship snakes from a verified shipper.
other reptiles anyone can ship.
fish and corals anyone can ship.
insects are fine also.
its all on their site just like it is on ups site ans usps also

Kudos to Ian for not shipping out my package via fed ex last night. He contacted me and said to wait until next week because fed ex was going to have problems because of the weather. There was a website that officialy put they weren't shipping on their home page because of delays. Just be careful guys and in the future before shipping or ordering, check the weather from memphis and the recepient address to avoid delays.

does usps have a hub like fed ex and ups??? it makes zero sense to me when im shipping a package from vegas to cali 4hrs away it goes all the way to the east coast...:( you would think being a neighboring state it would have a truck that drives from here to there with a main hub in each place to sort....

Just got a fedex shipment, everything is good for the most part. A few polyps are questionable and smell like poo, but everything made it on time and in good condition.

I'm sorry I'm sure there are legitimate reasons for a package to be delayed but Fed ex uses the "bad weather" as a knee jerk response. I had a package ship 4 hours away same state and the vendor paid extra for it to arrive by 1030am and the package did not arrive until 1pm. This was the first week of December so I chalked it up to it being the holidays.

In January , the same thing happened and the "customer service or lack thereof" representative said it was due to bad weather and hung up even though there was no bad weather and I saw that the package had already reached Portland. It took the vendor complaining for them to actually get off their butts and figure out the problem and it turned out it was a bad driver.

I got another shipment last month same vendor and it arrived at 10am. So there is truth in Fed ex really not caring and using the bad weather excuse as a loophole and hoping nobody is paying attention.

Fedex is super efficient and effective here in PR, UPS takes a more time to deliver, and USPS is a disaster.

So they said they were running 2 hours late, I got the package at 1:35
Everything was packed great, the Pink ******* and Lucky Charms were showing a little skeleton and the my miami seemed ok

PS, tell me everything you know about me by looking at the first picture lol.

I think it's not fair to make such a broad statement about a shipper without having enough data to base it on. How many shipments do you think FedEx has a day? 10,000? More? I think that all shippers have problems. If you search, you can definitely find posts from people who have lost corals shipped by UPS and USPS as well. The safest way to ship is by going to the airport and shipping by plane, but it's not very convenient.

yes they have many hubs. fedex is the only idiots to put all their cookies in the same basket
