Long story short I got this guy from NY Aquatic. Originally my wife thought he was dead because he was laying in his side. The package showed up packed well, but box wasn’t labeled live fish or anything at all. I fear he was tossed around pretty good. I’m grateful he’s not but I think I was injured in some of way in shipping. He just sits under a rock or in a corner somewhere with his fins out. I’ve tried to hand feed him different types of food with and without garlic. He is starving himself to death. He is isolated in a box with rock in for the time being. Any help would be appreciated.

These guys dont ship well in many cases. How was fish acclimated and for how long? Im familiar with mike's instruction sheet for acclimation,. I dont favor drip method but not the end of the world method.
These fish often take time to settle in and start eating but usually after 48 hours they settle in.
What foods are you offering?
I recommend standard quarantine and a 60 minute ruby rally pr bath with this species.
Also add air stone for added aeration.
Is fish breathing normal or labored?

My Blotchy is a total bust. He hides in the rocks all the time and the only time I see him is at night if I shine my flashlight where he hangs out. Will also assume weird positions: upside down, sideways. Wouldn’t mind but considering the price I’d like to see him more.

He was dripped for almost an hour. He’s been here since Saturday. I’ve offered flakes, pellets, mysis, and brine. Lastly I used garlic as well. He’s breathing is normal and he’s looking around. Actually he’s been hiding under the rocks and today swam up into the box. I since raised it so he can’t get out for now.

If it was eating something then I’d say it is what it is.

I’d try giving him more cover in that box. Mine started out only eating frozen. Then migrated to other foods over time.
