I just got a green war coral in on Tuesday. Tank parameters are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and about 20 nitrates, 10.5 alk, 500 calcium, 1500 magnesium. The flesh is coming off on one head and can see the skeleton. Not sure why.

Ph at 8, salinity at 1.025, I let them float in bag to bring to temp for about 15 min. Then used coral revive for about 5, placed it on the sand on the bottom and had light as low as they go

I had to turn the white on and blue off to get these pics. But I only run the blues right now to acclimate them

I drip acclimate everything. Matching salinity and PH is more imprtant I believe. Then temp(unless drastic) then light(thats the easiest IMO)

I float for temp, then drip, to 50% maybe more over 20 min, then dip rx revive whatever in that, rinse in tank water. Still no guarantees on success.

Filtration method (Skimmer, GFO, DSB, etc.)

What types of corals do you keep?

How long has the tank been running?

What are you dosing? Dosing schedule?

Which brand of salt are you using?

What brand of test kits are you employing?

What are you using for CA/ALK supplementation?

What are you using for flow? (Pump names, how many, placement, etc.)

Coral revive is a very harsh dip. If you over did it with the dip that will def hurt the coral.

The coral looks like it was damaged.Keep a eye on the brown filaments,hopefully those will go away.Also,I would recommend placing the coral on a large frag disk or small rock.This will help keep the sand off the irritated tissues.

I was thinking sand on it also. When you acclimate any livestock, check the parameters of their water. That way you will know what to acclimate to.

thus the slow drip from one unknown ph and salinity.

i think thats flesh personally. ESP if Im guessing it was fine in the store?
Its possible itll pull through on its own.
but IMO.

I had the same issue with the same coral what I did was moved it off the sand aND on to a rock so far the color has come back a lot. I'm running leds on about 60%. Hope this helps also I don't know if it helps but mine has a lot of direct flow on it

Well I think I found the culprit. Tested my water tonight 1 ammonia, over 5 nitrites, and about 20 nitrate. But I don't get it, I used cured rock, live sand, water the housed the cured rock and added bio spira. Y did I just have a spike
