Hi! Looks like your tank is pretty new. What coral is that supposed to be? Looks like it’s dying, not losing color. How did you cycle/start your tank?

Low alk likely played a major role, but is that also an aggressive hair/turf algae takeover I'm seeing?
Yes there is some sort of Algae problem and i think it is affecting the corals, can you recommend how to get rid of this? Thank you.

3 month old, and to be honest not too sure what coral name is. I cycled as advised by lfs, some bacteria added the a few fish.

It's most likely low alkalinity that's causing your coral to look like that. Not a lot things do well in low alkalinity but some of the nuisance algae seem to do well/okay in lower alkalinity.

You can try the product Vibrant and see if that helps with the algae.

I’d say vibrant, do a water change and re-dose your big 3 perams (alk, mag, calc) and hopefully it will be okay. H2O2 dip to help kill the algae on your coral so it doesn’t smother the coral to death. Looks like this one is supposed to be a trumpet/ candy cane coral?

I wouldn't even mess with Vibrant this early in your tank's life. I'd just ripclean it and be done in a couple hours. Can we see a full tank shot? What other livestock do you have?

I second the vote to not use vibrant.
Dosing phytoplankton and some microbactr7 with manual removal can actually outcompete the unsightly algae you see and youll be moving forwards not backwards in establishment.

The FTS doesn’t look bad at all, I see some corals open. If the main problem is corals losing color, you need more light. Here’s my AI Prime settings

Sometimes depending on water parameters...increasing intensity could be the nail in the coffin for some corals.

Ive had well growing colonies stall for months and actually lose color due to intensity increase or just plain changing the schedule.

I would start dosing some oceanmagik too.
The bac alone wont help too quickly but a step in the right direction.

Also manual removal will help immensely.
Do you no of any other brands as i cannot find this available in the UK unfortunately

search for live phytoplankton on google and see if you can find it for sale in your country. Any brand should suffice. Some ebay sellers sell it in waterbottles. If they ship when its cool or use an ice pack theres little chance of death.
Most the sellers ive ran into are here in the states though.

Not sure of your location but heres an ebay listing from GB.
You can do some research on phyto and pick one you desire.
Oceanmagik has 4 types in one bottle.
I use that or tetraselmis because its what i started culturing.
