Sorry about the thread title but I wanted to get as many people to read it as possible because its an important message.

I don't know what it is like in other parts of the world but here in the UK men don't tend to discuss their own health problems. Hopefully this will change things a little and at the least encourage you to check a few things, if only for peace of mind.

So the reason for the thread was to spread the word about cancer and particularly testicular cancer. If you want to get to the important bit feel free to skip to the last paragraph.

I wanted to let others know as i'm not ashamed to say, i'm part of the onesie gang. There are lots of us including Arnold Schwarzenegger, so don't take the pee;) Its really such a simple thing to check yourself and you can save so much anguish if you do it regularly. For me I wasn't so lucky, whilst I went to the Dr's quickly (the average man apparently takes 11 weeks to go to the dr's but I only took 2 weeks) unfortunately it was discovered that it had spread to my lungs and lymph nodes. That meant that instead of a simple surgery I had to go through quite a lot of chemo and radiotherapy. Not to mention the ghost of future past who showed me what i'll look like when I was bald as a coot. I've been in remission for a little while but it took a lot out of me and with more regular checking you may be able to nip it in the bud without going through any of that.
If its embarrassment that your worried about then don't its so professional that you don't even worry. I went from never having a man touch my crown jewels, to having three different men cupping them in a single day before experiencing how sticky ultra sound gel can be (peeling it off my leg nearly saved the surgeon some time).
The survival rate for this type of cancer is extremely high and its more common in younger people which helps. This makes it all the more important to feel your nuts regularly if you are in the most at risk age group of 16-30 years. So do it.

Checking is easy to do, so there's no excuse. If you like you could get a friend to do it for you. Feel each testicle regularly and you are looking for anything abnormal or any discomfort. Normal testicles should feel smooth, without any lumps or bumps. You can sometimes feel a little tube at the back of each testes but not always. Its also common to have one low hanging fruit, but again nothing to worry about. Not all testicles are created equal, so you might have one slightly bigger than the other but that can be normal for you. They should be firm but not hard and if you feel anything out of the norm then please swallow your pride and get it checked out as soon as possible.
There are also many other reasons why you might find a problem that aren't cancer but again going to see a dr can put your worries to bed. So please spread the word and regularly have a play with yourself, its not like we need an excuse anyway.

Thanks for reading
Adam

Congrats on remission!

This is always a relevant issue but it is no shave November to raise awareness for men’s health- I haven’t shaved yet and when asked about it I am happy to discuss men’s health both physical and mental.
Dont be to proud to ask your buddy how they are doing or advocate for their health.
Thank you for sharing.
