Wanted to get general opinions on my return plumbing plan from more experienced Reefers.
I will be using a Vectra S2 for my return pump. I plan to use 3/4 PVC to the return bulkheads (one on each end of the back of a 4' tank). I will transition to 1/2" Loc-line on the interior of the tank. Each vertical section of 3/4" pvc going from the mainline to the bulkheads will have a ball valve installed. Total horizontal run will be 5 or 6 feet, and vertical runs will be about 2' from sump to tank then another 20" to bulkheads. Will this be too much head loss for the pump to overcome?

Ball valves are going to be difficult to adjust. You may want to consider gate, globe, or diaphragm valves if your goal is to balance the returns.

bulkheads are 3/4 so yes it would be easy task to just stay with that size loc-line. I was downsizing just so it would be less obtrusive inside the tank.

I could also easily swap out out ball valves for gate valves as well. Ball valves were less expensive and that is why I went that direction.

Thank you.
