will this be good or do i really need a gate valve on the drain. the tank is a 125 gal. dual corner overflow.

FWIW I would never restrict a drain line. Stuff will grow in your plumbing and any restriction runs the risk of clogging and causing water to back up and potentially overflow.

I would disagree slightly. I would never put a valve on an EMERGENCY drain line. I would put it on the full siphon line on both a herbie and beananimal overflows. That way you can control the flow and match it to your return pump. If you have a DC pump, it’s possible to use the pump to match the flow of your drain but I personally wouldn’t go that route.

so your saying here I should get rid of the gate valves completely on the manifold?

The valves on your pump output will have stuff build up inside the lines just like your drain line but it's not going to cause a backup that will overflow your ssytem, just slow down your return flow.

That's why I added the gate valves on the return lines. But I'm not sure if I need gate valves on the drain pipes.

Looks like your running a Durso type drain. In that case you do not want a valve on it.
