Hey everyone! The tank I picked up used came with plumbing. Overflow and emergency drains are simple.

The return has a manifold attachment if I need it, but undecided right now. Let me know your thoughts.

hard to tell much about the drains from the photos but the return looks straightforward. I would want to secure the return line to the stand.

What size is the display?

Does it have or do you plan to have a canopy for the top? Unless it had a canopy that would cover the top of the display tank, I’d probably drill and convert that return so it didn’t run up and over the top.

Nothing wrong with it as is, just kind of dates the tank a bit and doesn’t look as clean as returns that use bulkheads through the back, side or bottom.

Is there just one return?


Pics of the overflow would be good as well.


Regardless of how you intend to plumb it, pick up some citric acid and magic erasers from Amazon, and it will clean up good as new.

I’ve been using vinegar and water diluted. It’s 140g display probably 20-30g sump.

Brings back a lot of 'old school' memories of an over-the-glass return I built for a very shallow, 6' long tank I once had. Lots of fun. I hope things go great for you. By the way, if you need to make a nice cleaning paste to scrub any tough spots with a rag, "Bar Keeper's Friend." Walmart/Amazon. Rinse thoroughly.
