I just completed a leak test on my 90 gallon system. I have a 30 trigger system sump and I'm using flex drain hose for where the overflow comes into the sump. Even though everything seems to be working properly, I noticed quite a bit of turbulence in the first stage of the sump (where the skimmer would be). When I installed the drain flex hose, I provided that there was a 'little' bit of a 'S' bend in each hose, but not a whole lot. I was wondering if I got some longer flex hose and changed them out so there would be more of an 'S' bend in the hoses, that it might cut down on the strong turbulence in the first stage.

I did extend pvc from the bulkhead down toward the bottom of the sump to cut down on noise, as I've seen a lot of people do. Though like I said, it's almost a straight shot down from my overflow to the sump, not much redirection of the overflow water. Would putting longer hoses on it cut down on some of the force of water???

You would be better off having it drain into a filter sock or onto a sponge if it is noisy-

I use just 1" rubber line, and it still makes turbulance in the sump. To cut some of the noise out, I used the black filter sponge on the end of the lines.

The turbulance is caused by gravity and weight being dropped into your sump, your best bet is to get a filter sock, if not then try cutting back the drop of the water.
