I just purchased a "Lifegard Aquatics 1-Inch Bulkhead Fitting Kit". The threading on the outside of the bulkhead looks to be around 1.75". I do not want to use the slip fitting that came with the kit. I want to purchase a 90 degree elbow that will fit directly on the end of the bulk head but can not find one with a 1.75" interior threading. Does anyone know where I can get one? I would prefer black but am desperate so any color would work.

I am also looking for a threaded reducer for the other side of the elbow to connect a 1" flexible tube.

Any help would be apriciated!

Thanks.. I am looking with one that is already threaded.
I’ve never seen a street 90 that was male-slip x female-threaded. You can get a normal 90 that is socket x threaded. But again you would need some 1 inch pipe to glue that 90 to your bulkhead.

Nice.. it doesn't look threaded on the other side. I am really trying to stay away from gluing. That is why I am looking for threaded. :)

The bulkhead you pictured doesn’t have threads that’s why I posted the slip 90.
If you change the bulkhead to threaded you can use one of these

Are you trying to use the threads on the OUTSIDE of the bulkhead? The external threads are only for the bulkhead nut, not for connecting plumbing.

+1 ^^^

Glad somebody picked it up. The threads on the outside of the bulkhead are ONLY for the bulkhead retaining nut. They are not tapered like the threading on PVC fittings and do not provide any sealing.

Thanks for the clarification. I wish they made a product that could use the bulk head threads to attach an elbow.

I guess I will have to glue.

They do, You just have to buy the right bulkheads…

So that bulkhead threading can be used to directly attach an elbow? What elbow? I want to use the external threading so no internal diameter is lost.

No. That threaded bulkhead has internal threading. The external threading on a bulkhead is ONLY for the retaining nut. If you want to increase diameter, buy a bigger bulkhead, or a bigger overflow/drill a bigger hole that will accommodate a bigger bulkhead.

As Waterdog said outside is for retainer nut. Also outside is 1.75" I doubt you'll find a thread fitting at homedepot since most of the size goes up by 1/2" (but i could be wrong). get a new bulkhead or make the 1" inside work to your needs
