It's a DC Pump I purchased...I can control the flow

In that case, the valve isn’t strictly necessary! It would still be nice to have, but a plumbing restriction at the display return nozzles can effectively do the same thing! (I’m thinking of RFGs!)

The only place I could put a valve would be flat in line from the 1.5" elbow, but it would obviously be a 1.5" valve

That’s also fine! It is just a bit more bulky/expensive than 1.25”; not the end of the world!

Yeah...and I can't use the 1.25 valve cause I glued the components to it, so it's garbage now

If there’s still a pipe stub/fitting on either side, it could always go in the spare project plumbing pile?

Correct! Orientation doesn’t really matter in this application!

Well I finally got it done and everything is working great and performing much better. I used to run the pump at full throttle and the water would be trickling out of the returns. Now I only have it set half way and the water flow is amazing

Fantastic to hear, great work!

— Now you’ve got pump power to spare if you want to add additional outlet(s) to your manifold!

I have an Ecotech L2 return pump that I only run about 50%, 150 gallon display, 40 gallons in the sump and need a manifold to run UV and 2 reactors. Should I use just the one return pump or use a separate pump for the manifold?

You can probably just use the L2 for everything, honestly!

Do you want all those things to turn off when you turn off the return pump?

Do you want to have to leave the return pump on just to keep those things running?

There're no "correct" answers, but you're creating some dependencies by plumbing a manifold. Worth considering.

It does sound like you could have saved some bucks by going with a smaller return pump.
