Hello,

I bought a used PM 1 module to hook up a ORP probe. On the Fusion app it shows the ORP as 799 even when the probe isn't plugged in. I thought this was a probe problem so I received a new one, but I'm having the same issue. The status light is green and Fusion recognizes the module. I must be doing something wrong or the actual probe port is broken. If you have any thoughts I would greatly appreciate the help!

Gonna bump this for you maybe tag the reef squad.

The ORP port, when unplugged, doesn't mean anything. Mine shows about 500 when it's unplugged. The ORP probe also takes 2-3 weeks to finally drop down to a sensible value after the biofilm and all have taken over.

I've found that on Neptune Apex ORP probes, the values vary quite a bit, and it's just the variation that can be approximated to say something. The absolute value of the ORP probe doesn't mean much, even when the probe has been dipped for a while. I always use ORP probe, but that is because someone said if I run Ozone, I must monitor ORP. I think it's far-fetched to think of it as anything reliable, in my humble opinion. What do you plan to use the ORP probe for?

Here, I took out the probe for you to show that my ORP probe settles at 505 when I unplug it. :)

Yellow above is ORP, and blue is pH. With ORP, you just monitor the change, not the absolute value (at least as far as Neptune Apex is concerned). The ORP range, according to Milwaukee, is between 200-300 during the above time period.

Hope this helps.

Did you calibrate? Is the PM1 updated?

I tried two brand new probes so I didn't think I needed to calibrate them yet, but I did do an update on it. I have an appointment with Neptune to see if they can figure it out. Thank you so much for all of the suggestions help!!

Please do let us know what they say. I did not know the BRS ORP probe can work with Apex but if it does, I'd love to try it out. I also don't think the ORP probes need calibration out of the box but since this is Apex+ BRS probe combo, I'm interested in finding out how to go about it.

I agree, this feels like an issue with the PM1. Suggest warranty with the Vendor if possible. My prior experience has been that the customer service and troubleshooting with Neptune can be a real PIA. Back in 2020, I spent 3 online support sessions with them for them to figure out that their software update bricked my PM1.

When it works properly, it just works.
