Pocillopora or stylophora?

Hello everyone!

Just looking for some clarification.
I bought this coral 2 months ago. It was sold as a pocillopora. It was the first poci i have seen in person but always wanted one, so i got it for a good price.
After some days in my tank, i felt like it looked very similar to my stylo.
So i wanted to check here with the experts, is this a pocillopora or a stylophora?
The frag is about 3 x 3 cm.





As comparison i also put a picture of my stylophora.

Not an expert, but that looks like purple stylo to me. Easier to tell when it grows out a bit.

thats what i thought too. Still a nice coral! But i guess i will keep my eyes open for a nice Poci :)

When conditions are stable and parameters are good the Purple Stylo grows like crazy and is almost impossible to kill. This is mine which I’ve had for over three years now.

that looks really great! mine is growing nicely too, i love watching the progress!

The heads and growth appearance look to be a Pocillopora to me. Looks too busy and warty for a stylophora frag

Congrats Its a bouncing baby Stylo!
If it was a purple pocilopora that would be pretty cool never seen purple one. Although poci like monti cap eventually becomes a nuisance.

The pocs stay more clumped up and warty in my observations of them. I have a purple Stylophora. This was my frag when I got it, and a reference photo of a Poc

I see what you mean!
My stylo is growing more compact too since i got it, and the colour matches almost exactly! Thats why i had the impression it might be a stylo.
I guess i will see as it grows, if it will open up more or more clumped up like a poci.
