do pods eat chalice's when over poppulated? i saw a mention about this on another thread and didn't want to thread jack. i have a chalice and lps tank plumbed to the display and i don't have any fish in there. i'm not having a problem, but i saw people writing about this and thought i'd check. it's full of all types of pods and such. i thought that maybe at night one might get caught and make a meal. i guess what i'm wondering is should i add a fish or two to control them?

I saw something similar the other day. It didnt go into it and I didnt ask. .........Tagging along

somebody correct me if i am wrong, but i dont think pods eat live tissue, just the stuff that is already dead, perhaps something is wrong causing the chalices to slough off tissue, if you got that many pods perhaps your tank could use a mandarine, or a six line wrasse

i personally never thought that pods ate living tissue. i don't see any damage at all. i just wanted some feedback since i read it a few times. thanks for the responce.

Ive had it happen to perfectly health chalice before. I was feeding my corals daily then when I slowed down feeding because, I was at working all the time they kinda made a hole in between the skin and the bone and I seen them entering more like exiting out the chalice In the morning!:( I think my tank was just use to all the extra food everyday then when it was gone the started just feasting on a one or 2 of my chalices

There are tens of thousands types of pods. I would be shocked if some of them didn't eat both living and dead tissue. However, there are also likely many types that only feed on dead.
