*Jedi mind trick wave* This is the tang you are looking for....

Acanthurus dussumieri

One of the many common names for this fish is simply Palani. The most common name for it is the eye-stripe surgeon, though. It can get quite large (can occasionally get over 20") and is native to Hawaii. Not a real common one in the trade, so it's definitely a cool oddball tang to have.

They are not the same fish.

Although people do call juvenile Dussumieri Palani Tangs sometimes.

Just google for the difference and you will find some discussions. We actually have a Palani at the store that I work in the coral tank, it is not A. dussumieri

What is the Latin name? I still don't know what tang we're talking about.

That’s the trouble with these ‘popular’ names .... they create confusion. I know the palani as the ring tail (Blochii) tang. Gets quite large.

You raise a heck of a point although I didn't think it was spread to the fish but I guess I can see how it would happen. Corals, on the other hand, insert random name generator, add two zeros, and sell the coral for a premium.
