Poll: Are you laid off

As a Dean at a community college I'm home trying to maintain a level of educational continuity for our students and faculty. I miss the daily student and faculty interaction and hope things start returning to some normalcy soon. My heart goes out to our students more than ever. If you're a student at any institution keep your spirits up, your love of learning fed, and most importantly your goals for educational success alive!

Wasn't laid off but know a lot of people who took a heavy pay cut 30-40%. Almost everyone i know in retail has been laid off some permanently some temporary until reopening.

I'm an insurance underwriter so we're able to work remotely thankfully and I'm not seeing our business take much of a hit.

Delivery driver for ups here, so i am essential.
I am working less hours as my route is 90% retail but all the residential has really picked up.

It has been rumored that it could be 2-3 more weeks before the $600 unemployment kicks in. The stimulus checks started rolling out around the 9th. So those that qualify should hopefully see them soon. Or thats what I’ve heard. I work more in our local politics for the governor but we do have a few contacts in DC.
hoping that everyone can get back to work in a quick but safe timeframe.

600$ extra in unemployment has already started rolling out, least in NY. I'm on my second week of it.

Normal unemployement + an extra 600$.. Helps some, but still only about 1/3 of my normal income.

Technology teacher( shop to you old timers) trying to teach hands on classes through the internet. I'll be glad when this is over and so will most of the students.

That is correct. It went out to he hardest hit areas first. Or that was my understanding.
