My stand is 40" tall plus the 16" height of my 40 breeder makes it easy to view without bending over. @melev goes more into stand height in this video (starting at 14:30) and brings up good points you don't usually think about before setting up a tank.

My current stand is 32" high. I'm 5'8" and the tank is 20" tall. Its at armpit height so I can still reach into the tank and even reach the bottom if i have to without a stool.

My new tank is going to have a 36" stand and a 24" tall tank. I'm going to need a stool...

31" stand, 18" tall 75 gallon tank.
Top is 4" below my armpit level.

Perfect for viewing sitting in my chair.
Effortless to work in.
Effortless to add algae sheets to the 3 clips, or feed slowly, shaving off bits of frozen food and then dangling black worms on both sides of the tank from my fingertips.

Top down view is mostly obscured by moving water. But it helps a lot when working to fish something out from the back of the tank.

Biggest benefit.
We don't have children in the house very often.
But when they are here, the tank is a perfect height for them.
(Lol, and just low enough for them to reach up and feed the fish)
I get as much fun watching them fascinated with the tank as I do just sitting and watching it peacefully.

41" under a 40 breeder for my new tank. Old tank is a Marineland 60 cube on the Marineland 32" stand. That was one of my lessons learned applied to the new tank. It is as high as it can be for me to still be able to reach any point inside standing flat footed beside it.
