I'm 54 years old and had reef tanks for over 30 years and I still learn something new about reef keeping every day. I've just replaced my system for one that's more wheelchair friendly and I'm still tweeking it but I'll get there soon now where's my pension book lol...

33, I have had FW fish tanks since I was very young on and off. Worked in a LFS for a short time during high school. After college tried a few FW planted tanks with the last one being a high tech planted tank with pressurized co2 and the works. Ended up tearing that tank down and sold most of it off to move across the country. After renting for a year and deciding we are not leaving this area we bought a home and I finally decided to take the plunge into a reef tank. I was actually about ready to set up a FW planted tank again and I went into the LFS I had been checking out only to find out they had converted the entire store to saltwater. After thinking about it I ended up deciding to give the reef tank a shot, so far I am 4 months into my first reef and loving it!

Started with Freshwater tanks about about 9 years or so ago. Started SW FOWLR about six years ago. Did a 55 Gallon Reef which lasted long enough till I got my 180 going. My 180 has been going for four months. I still keep a 55 Gallon Freshwater. I am a bit older (Remember when Neil walked on the Moon). But still consider myself a newbie when it comes to SW and Reefing. I have learned a lot since I started and R2R (especially some of its members) have been a GREAT help! - Keeping a Reef in the Desert...

I grew up around salt tanks in the Seventies. My first personal salt tank was commissioned in 1987. First reef tank in 1989. I'm coming up on 49 in March.

64, and started setting my first reef tanks, which are quarantine tanks, 3 months ago. The plan is to get the display tank up and running this year.

I ran a salt and fresh water tanks 25 years ago until we moved into a house that supported the family better, each kid had their own bedroom, but had no place for tanks.

This move I made sure a fish room and for 200 gallon tank was in the top 3 of reasons to buy the house.

I'm 27. I started with Freshwater when I was around 10 years old. I've kept fish (Freshwater) on and off through the years.
Once my wife and I got our house I started to breed African Cichlids. (On a very small scale, only 3 species)
I always wanted to try saltwater, however, never had the knowledge/guts to try it.
After watching the BRS 52 weeks of reefing series, I made the jump to reef keeping.
My tank has been up and running for a little over a year, and I couldn't be happier! Thanks BRS!

Almost 40 years here. My dad is @Paul B's long-lost brother and had saltwater tanks all over the house. When I was 5 (yes, you read that right), he helped me setup my first 29 gal SW tank and then told me, :p

Maybe so, but keeping Duck Billed Platypusses in a bath tub doesn't count.

(Welcome Home. :p)

11 years and I still have the very first fish I ever bought, and brought him in my car all the way from California to Louisiana (had to sneak him into the hotel room in El Paso)

It has been 2 years since this past October. I converted my 55 gallon from freshwater to saltwater. Had a bumpy road at the beginning because I ignored advice for going slow, but now, I have a healthy, thriving mixed reef tank :) Love this hobby!!!!!!!
