Nice build.

I did a 60g cube when I got back into the hobby a few years ago. Sold it off last year to make room for something a bit larger.

Are you happy with the return, flow, and noise level thereof? I screwed around with the factory durso return for months. Never could make it quiet enough to satisfy myself. Tank was a few feet away from where I watch TV, and even a little noise was annoying. Eventually changed the 2 drain holes into a single Herbie style drain and ran the return outside and over the top. A bit extreme, perhaps, but it gave me the SILENT tank I wanted.

I got the noise stopped by moving a 3x6 piece of filter floss under drain spray hole AND stopped micro bubbles from sump with filter floss squeezed in-between bafffles. Its very quiet. It drove me nuts til I figured it out. Hahahhahah

Quieting a durso style overflow can be a challenge. Floss can work, but it has it's drawbacks... you've got to clean it :p

In case you ever want to look at it, here's a description of the Herbie conversion I did some time back... on a different forum, but most folks around here don't mind that much.

I am planning to set up a 60 cube in the next couple of months but am stuck on what sump to choose. What do you have in your engine room?

EShoppes makes a cube sump, so does Trigger. When I had my cube, I didn't use either... they're awful small, and I had space under the stand for a bigger one, so I bought one.

EShoppes 3rd gen sumps, with the glued in, unreachable, uncleanable channels under other areas and around the splashdown area... I won't be buying any more of those.

The Somatic looks good, if you haven't already bought a skimmer. Good price, too.

Sumps for these seem to be a PITA, for the 60g I think the only real ready to go options are the couple that Greybeard mentioned. Other than that it depends on the room in your cabinet for a DIY solution. I'm looking at setting up a 93 cube and will be building the stand with a shelf on the side so I can fit a 75 (48x18x21) underneath that I'll custom partition. Current thought is 18x18 skimmer, 18x18 fuge, and a 12x18 return area but I'm sure that will evolve before it's done. The closest option I see to fit under the 60 would be a 27 cube (20x18x20). My thought on that would be a 20x12 skimmer or fuge area and 20x6 return chamber.

Now back to CK, how does the rock look from the other side?

Nice setup. I have been thinking of getting the 60 cube that's not drilled and add a shadow overflow. How is the build quality of the tank? The only thing stopping me from ordering it is that the 8mm glass seems a little to thin for a frameless.
