For what it’s worth, This angel developed a swollen eye. I thought the eye was going to pop. It took about a month to finally return to normal. I was never sure of the cause. It had gone at least a week unable to capture food.

Thanks! My guy looks just like that! He seems perfectly fine otherwise, I hope he can go long enough without eating for it to recover

Update. Fish miraculously is still alive after 7 days. He was completely blind for most of it. I just finished the 10th dose of erythromycin with 50% water changes in between each dose. I also dosed double Epsom salts every day so I’m easily at 10x the recommended. He is now showing signs of being able to see, startles by my presence and is eating with difficulty

The swelling is down and he is finally eating today. Still having troubles getting the food into his mouth but eating. Hoping for a full recovery! He will be back in dt within a few days

Every morning I was shocked to see him still alive. Trooper for sure. Before and after pics. Both eyes started getting swollen before I started treatment

What epsom salt are you guys using? Also, if I read correctly this would be a bath so for how long should we leave a fish in the bath? I have a McCoskers wrasse that’s had popeye for at least 2 days

This is a known remedy which applies to freshwater fish and not saltwater as the marine specimens are already in a salt environment. You would want ethromyacin or Maracyn 1 which are both penicillin based antibiotics.
