Hey guys,

So I’ve been researching LEDs just to get more info if I decide to switch later on. I see a lot of people recommending the PopularGrow LED bars as a supplement light. I have a set of their blue bars but no one local has a par meter and I can’t afford the “rental” of one. I did a quick search and checked the par database but couldn’t find anything. Does anyone have the par readings on the PopularGrow light bars? Both blue and white bars if anyone has the white bars.

I have 1 blue @ 72inch and one Blue @ 48 inch and 1 white (50/50) @ 72 inch the white is pretty bright, i have the white led optics removed on it, and the lights make a very pleasing spectrum like that. resembles a blue+ t5 bulb. I can grab some par readings tomorrow. There is a thread on here where a guy took the par readings, search (bar lights) and you might find it.

I would appreciate that! I just ran that search but didn’t come up with anything other than a lot in the classified and orphek giveaways among some other small things but nothing with par readings

I looked also and did not find it, post was probably a year or 2 ago. I will take some readings tomorrow, I don't expect great numbers, but they serve the purpose I bought them for.

I’m not expecting huge numbers either given the wattage but I have a thought and was curious if it’d even be close enough to work lol

So the readings were much better than I thought they would be. things to keep in mind my par meter is a

USB Smart Quantum SQ-420 I've read many say it reads low for blue light, I bought to find hot spots and cut off which is does well.

My tank is 180g the 50/50 light has only the white optics removed, the blue optics on that light are still in it, meaning the readings would be much higher. all lights are 1ft above the water.

1 blue @ 72inch and one Blue @ 48 inch and 1 white (50/50) @ 72inch

All lights on
6 inches below water around 200 par
12 inches around 171 par
16 inches around 143 par
24 inches around 133 par

1 48 inch blue
6 inches below water around 110 par
12 inches around 90 par
16 inches around 75 par
24 inches around 64 par

48 inch modified 50/50
6 inches below water around 60 par
12 inches around 46 par
16 inches around 38 par
24 inches around 30 par

The 50/50 is much lower par than i thought it would be, but once again the white optics are removed and im very happy with the color output from all lights. but they are performing much than I thought they would. as for the " all lights on" I think the readings are higher as the 48 inch blue is at the back of the tank and the 2x 72 inch setups are at the front of the tank MH lights separate them. so around 110 par for one 48 inch light is my guess at 6 inches down and 1ft above the tank.
