I'm trying to properly position my 2x 350 gyres and my 2x MP40s and Random flow returns on my 155g quarter cylinder corner tank. I am noticing lots of dead spots and some brownish/reddish sand accumulating. Additionally, as I crank up my MP40s, I'm getting large pits in the front of my tank which aren't great either. I'm just not happy with my current alignment and could use a refresh. drcrook, your setup and pix look awesome, so I'm sure you could help me make sense of mine.

This is basically the top down view of my tank/or the template for the canopy, but same thing.

Is this your current wavemaker setup?

MP40's half way down the wall and gyre's 4" down from the top?

Here is something that you could try. Mount the gyres vertically on the back wall with flow clashing at the front and put the MP40's above the gyre. Turn the gyre cover so that it sends it around the front.

You did a nice job describing your tank. In the future just call it a "corner bow front".

I have a B.S. in MS Paint.

If this is problematic you can continue to move the vertical gyres closer to the front glass. Aesthetically you may not like the look.

My back wall is black and i have a lot of rock so as long as it's on the back walls, you mostly cannot see it.

That being said, how far from the bottom for the gyre and how far from the top for the MP40s? Oh and how far forward from the back corner?

Additionally... I guess the modes I program will matter as well to make these work as pictured. I program my MP40s through apex fusion and they are on some crazy schedule and the gyres i program through ICV6/SYNA-G which I find incredibly difficult to navigate/program. I'll attach current schedules.

I am 100% doing this over the weekend, so I will report back once it's done. I do not think it will be an issue for the gyres to reach the front. They are 350s running super low ATM. If I crank these babies, they will make it to the front!

Experiment! I would start with everything at the half lengths and then adjust based on observations, possibly leaving the MP40's centered on the length but pulling the gyres closer to the front. MP40's should stay low enough to not suck air. Make sure to turn the Gyre covers to direct flow around the side. Alternatively you could have them blow through the rocks and really clear out any detritus that builds up in there.

Cut the schedules for your testing and just run them on a constant speed while setting up. Flow will clash at the center of the bow and be turbulent. That could truly randomize the flow in that area. Now I'm getting excited!

It would benefit you to take a look at those apex schedules because what you have set up is not making sense to me.

EcoTech Modes

If you were to look at these modes over time, how much of the mode are you experiencing from 00:00 to 01:00? Is time in the two diagrams below the span of 30 seconds or 10 hours?

Those are times of day... so it should be in hours. 12am to 1am, 1 am to 2am, 2am to 4am, etc. Also the ecotechs are running the same, no anti-sync or anything like that because apparently that is not available yet in the MXM to Apex setup.

Yes, I understand that the times in your Apex screenshot are the times of day. I'm asking if you are experiencing the entirety of this diagram in the 1 hour or only the first portion of it. What's shown in the picture below is a series of flow changes over the period (time). When you set the mode for only 1 hour adn then switch to another mode, how much of the first mode (reef crest for example) diagram are you experiencing / how many times odes it repeat within that hour?

I have no clue about that. I never even thought about it that way
