Hello! I have set up a 150 gallon, added a gem tang about 2 and a half weeks ago, he was quarantined in Cu for 14 days then transferred to a sterile qt for prazi treatment, i know its a bit short but he never showed symptoms, still to this day no spots but i added a biota yellow 2 days ago and he broke out completely in what i believe to be ich, now i am here looking for a possible id so i know what i have to treat :) thank u anything helps as always.

This is indeed ich and fish will have to be placed in quarantine using a separate tank and treating with coppersafe at 2.25ppm for a full 30 days. Monitor copper with hanna brand copper test kit and also monitor ammonia in QT
Any other fish in with it too should be treated as they have been exposed. Leave display tank with no fish (fallow) for 6-8 weeks to assure parasites have died off without a host fish. Coral and inverts can remain in display safely

I agree - this is ich mixed in with some mucus plugs.

My concern is in the video, the tang is breathing really fast. Ich doesn’t cause that in the early stages. Had this tang been frightened or chased around right before the video was taken?

hello! Yes the fish might have been breathing hard because i chased him around with a net to put in a separate tank soon as i saw spots in hopes of catching it early and not affecting the gem, also when i was moving him the spots literally came off with my finger wearing gloves i thought ich was deeper into the skin but now thinking it could have possibly been some of the mucus plugs , i just saw he has way less spots and not breathing hard anymore, swimming around and ate in the non medicated tank, gonna treat with copper and possibly hypo the display, everybody local i ask tells me “ich is too prevelant to not have” and been told ich can be in a tank long term without killing fish long as i keep them healthy but i have my doubts..

That makes sense about the breathing.

Here is a thought - maybe just set up to treat the fish, but then wait until you see definitive symptoms before starting? The reasoning is that to treat ich properly, you will need to medicate ALL fish that were exposed and then don't return those treated fish to the display tank for 60 days. If you aren't able to do a full treatment, then it will likely fail anyway.
