Potential Isolation Box

I've been looking at this and wondering if it's too small to be used as an isolation box for introducing fish to a tank.

I would have to drill holes in it and get some magnets to hold it to the side of the aquarium.

I suppose a lot will depend on what type of fish (size) will be isolated, and for how long. Usually a longer box is better than a taller box-- for swim room.

Acclimation boxes are a great idea. Sometimes the reptile boxes at Petco can work well too.

So my tank is fairly small at 40 gallons, so the fish are going to be fairly small as well. 2 to 3 inches at the most.

Oooh...that solves the magnet problem.

The second thinnest plastic dipped magnet from K&J magnets is completely waterproof and suitable for side mount magnets (also cheap shipping)

Also check the DIY section where someone used a strawberry container as the acclimation box :D (ingenious idea really)

The suction cups would drive me crazy. Plus, with the Octo Magnets I like to gently pull them back (to decrease the strength without scratching the glass) and vary the position of the box over the course of several days. I like the box to be mid level for a day or two, but then down near the sand and especially by different parts of the rock work that existing fish think 'they' own. Lol. Get them acquainted with a stranger in their neighborhood. Anyway, I find a good magnet allows better movement without sticking my hands in the tank often. I just gently drag the box. My two-cents, but like other have mentioned, there are probably 1001 ways to go with acclimation boxes.

Would still be cheaper to buy that box and add the magnets rather than using the wedding box and drilling holes.
