Powder Blue & chocolate tang

Hello beautiful ppl,

I'm still very new to the hobby/community and recently purchased a couple of tangs. Both juveniles. One chocolate and the other a powder blue. My chocolate is doing well and a great eater however this morning I noticed he is developing some very faint white stripes. I'm thinking this is stress relates however up in to this point (he's been in the tank for approx a wk) they were not there. What can I do to help him stress less? Also my powder blue who is also pretty young is very finicky. Scared of her own shadow and will only come out to eat when the dc and wave makers come back on. During the day she's mostly in a hideout area. Neither tang want anything to do with the seaweed clip I place in the tank or the pellets. They only will eat meaty foods and flakes. I have a new feeder coming in that has the holes where they can graze as they please without the mess but I can't even get them to be curious to get close to the seaweed. Any advice? I also have 2 black clowns (they're like little puppies, extremely happy and eat like little hippos) and 1 coral beauty who has became close with the powder blue.

Sometimes it takes fish awhile to come and be comfortable so just give them some time. you can rubberband some nori to a rock that may work. not sure about the white stripe.

I'm going to try the rubber band trick. After making this post I have found the reason my chocolate tang is stressed. My powder blue has finally found her personality and is chasing her all around.

Is this for your 95 gallon that you just set up? The following is going on that assumption, if not and your tank is bigger some of the following might not apply.

Powder blue tangs are difficult fish to keep, even for experienced reefers. :grimacing-face: They have a reputation of being highly susceptible to ick and velvet, and can get nasty especially in a smaller tank and with the second tang having the same body shape. Your tank isn’t all that big for two tangs, so I think it will be a stressful environment. Aggression may get worse in the close quarters, so just be prepared to remove one of the tangs if necessary. Also keep a close watch for any signs of disease. I understand you wanting one because they are so beautiful. There is always the chance that it works out for you, but I just felt the need to make you aware of the possibilities so you are prepared.

Regarding nori, I have found that when one of the fish takes the first bite, the others will learn and start eating it too. Just keep putting it in, but it WILL happen! ;)
