Power head vs Protein Skimmer

So I added a power head into the tank on Saturday for an area that didn't appear to be getting enough movement (just look stagnant). After a couple hours I looked back into that tank and noticed that my protein skimmer wasn't making any sludge. Only change in the tank was the power head...which is about 8 inches from the protein skimmer input. Anyone else ever seen this?

Simply putting your hands in the tank can cause a skimmer to stop skimming. Give it some time and it should start skimming again soon.
