Does anybody automate turning on an air diffuser in the main tank during power outage? Of course wave makers should be powered when the sump shuts down for circulation but what about oxygenation through a diffuser?

Your question is a bit vague. Are you asking about battery backups?

When power goes out I only run my 3 return pumps. That's all. Better to run returns than flow in my experience

I have battery backup air pumps that go on when power is lost. Multiple on larger tanks. The ones that run on D batteries and I test and change them out. Also a UPS that runs small pumps in the aquariums. Then a backup generator I can turn on.

I have 2 air pumps I toss in when I go away. The main return is on UPS which runs at least 2 hours, when that shuts off, the air pumps turn on and will run for 48 hours. One in sump and one in DT. Gives me plenty of time to ask a neighbor to hook up a generator to my house if power is going to be out for a long period. I really don't worry about heat or lights for a few hours. I also leave RODI for the ATO and have a pre-mixed salt batch of 10 gallons for when I get back.

Not specifically about battery, just aeration in general if total flow is reduced for an extended period due to main flow being off.
