I have a waterbox on the way and am rounding up equipment. I’m currently looking at power strips and surge protectors but can’t find a clear answer as to whether it’s feasible to plug a power strip (particularly the DJ 8 switch) into a surge protector or vice versa. From what I’ve read the DJ doesn’t have surge protection. Regardless of the setup, it will be plugged into a GFCI outlet.

I do want to have a smart power strip or surge protector for some of the gear plus the on off options of the DJ power strip but racking my brain on the setup between the two especially if I want surge protection. Anyone care to share their input or setup if it’s similar to what I’m looking for?

I bought this smart power strip and am about to hook it up, so I have no used it yet. However, I found quite a few votes for this product when I search it on this forum. So seems like it should work out well! It also has the on/off switches for each plug. Pretty cool.

I have the kasa and am really happy with it. I’m still bouncing around the idea of the dj though, just wish it was a surge protector like the kasa (as far as I’m aware it’s just a switch, no surge protection). The cord management on the dj is nice. I bought these for the kasa to have them go through the face of a controller board to help with cord management:

Also WiFi/Alexa with kasa is a plus

I’ll add to the Kasa vote. I have two Kasa strips running my stuff. Really happy with them and love the scheduling and power monitoring, plus they still have individual switches if you don’t want to open the app. The USB plugs work great for LED strip lights for under cabinet lighting too! The app works well and everything has been working great for 9 months so far.

I'd say for the last 5 years I'm using this model for all my builds.

I'm using (2) of the APC smart strips (not kasa) since they also have smart usb ports too.

If kasa made their USB plugs smart also, I'd be all over the kasa strips since they have built in energy monitoring feature.

The APC smart strips are only $35 each, so they also have that going for them.
