Prazipro and wrasses.

I'm going to use prazipro on my leopard wrasses within a week. I know wrasses are sensitive so how should I dose? I was thinking 1/2 dose on day 1 and the other half on day 2 and then wait 1 day and water change. Repeat after 1 week. Will this be too much? Should I dose less so the final concentration isn't as high? Will it be enough exposure time to kill flukes and internal worms? Thanks for the help. Oh... and a side question. Will copper be necessary if I don't see any external parasites? I dont want to put them through unnecessary stress.

That should be fine. I do exactly the same...dose half, wait about 6 hours and then the balance. I have not lost any wrasse to this treatment. I have also not seen them stressed either. They have done fine for me at the suggested dose. My only issue has been jumping out! Watch out for that!

I just put two leopards through QT (meleagris, bipartitus) and they didn’t miss a beat going straight to full dose of PP, did three treatments on them.

My previous ornate leopard also went through several (6+) full strength treatments in the DT, s(he) his the rest of the day after dosing but otherwise was fine.

I strongly recommend the full dose. All my sensitive wrasses such as leopards, tamarins, and pencil wrasses have all done just fine with the full dose.

Not only do they do fine, they are highly susceptible to internal parasites (as I've unfortunately figured out) so it's highly recommended.

It seems the general consensus is to do the full dose and the wrasses would be fine. I was just over thinking it.

Agree 100%. The key here is to allow plenty of oxygen exchange. Best way is a powerhead near the top of the tank. Aimed upward creating heavy agitation at the surface of the water. You can run an airstone as well. They should do fine.

A quick thread revive. Should I do a copper treatment (cupmarine) even though I don't see any external parasites? But at the same time, wrasses have thick slime coats so they could harbor parasites but never show it. If it's unnessary I don't want to do it.

Copper is 100% necessary with wrasses IMO for the reasons you mentioned.

I do prefer copper power at 1.75ppm with the Hanna checker over cupramine for what it's worth. You get pinpoint accuracy and I have treated fairy's, leopards, flashers, anampses, etc with zero negative reaction.
