I'm about to start stocking my newly cycled reef tank. I am brand new to this hobby. It is a taller 37 gal tank (30 x 12 x 23 in). My rocks is structed as shown. I don't have any mechanical filtering installed. I am hoping to keep the tank free of equipment and do frequent water changes, but we will see how it goes. I will add a protein skimmer if necessary. I've heard so much conflicting advice as to what is necessary. I was hoping to get feedback on stocking the tank. My preliminary list is below, I definitely don't need all of the fish listed. Looking for any thoughts from seasoned reefers. I really am just learning, so bear with me.

I'm hoping to space activity throughout the tank.
I plan to start corals in maybe 3-6 months??

- start with a clownfish and blue damsel fish (Nemo & "Dory" for my 3 year old), then:
- yellow watchman goby + candy cane shrimp
- cleaner shrimp
- lawnmower blenny
- royal gamma
- 1 blue-green chromis

Thanks

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Lots of different ways to go here. IMO I would use a good protein skimmer. The tank will also need a lid/mesh cover to keep the fish from jumping.

I would skip the blue damsel (too mean) and the algae blennny (may not be enough algae to feed it, and they are often in poor shape when you get them).

Try to get pre quarantined fish.

Thank you! I may try to pass of a chromis as "Dory" instead...
