Your well is supplying 20 TDS water? That is amazing all by itself.

If you're getting 0 TDS water out of your unit, then you're golden!!! Assuming your TDS meter is accurate.

It will produce more waste water and be less efficient, which will cost you time and electricity... but you don't have to shell out for the booster pump if you don't want to. The booster pump will make the unit more efficient, meaning it will produce more clean water for the amount of waste water.

Start by stripping out all filters, including the membrane. Then sanitize the system, and lube all orings with food grade silicone grease. Only then should you install new filters.
