Problems with Bubble Magnus Curve 5

Does it matter if the adjustment thing is turned to the back or side of the pump? (the long white pipe with min and max on it)

It shouldn't as long as the air tubing is not getting pinched

The pump should be directly under the part with no holes. If it already is, don't bother turning it. I circled it on the pic below

how many inches up is your waterline? I am running my curve 9 at 8" and can usually adjust the output around 2-1/2. You can twist the output either way

I turned the holes and its doing a lot better now. Its not overflowing as much so I think its good now. Thank you guys!

My curve 5 took a few days to settle down and stop foaming crazy. I also have my water level at 8 inches. Any deeper and it starts pulling very wet skimmate - overflows. I also used the clamp to partially close the air line. I used this to fine tune the height of the bubbles. It's been very stable and pulling a very dark skimmate now for some months.

Had same issue. . ..
I raised the water level in sump and ran skimmer at lowest setting until I found a happy medium and slowly increased power to pump

I had that one for two years just bought the newer version three weeks ago. It can take some time for that skimmer to break in
Up to two week before works at least it did on mine and I heard of others that did the same.
My new is doing the same

I always make sure the holes are directly across from the pump opening

My curve 5 bubble magus is leaking the bubbles out of the venturi piece of the skimmer and it is releasing microbubbles into my sump and then going into my display. Also I have it at 7in of water and on the lowest setting (max) and it is still overflowing. It hasn't done this in the past wasn't until I made a fixture with live rock and epoxy(which was 4 days ago the structure got wet in my tank). Skimmer is 6mo old and has been a champ for me but it just started this.

Seems like this person had a similar problem to me however the solid part of the plate on mine is covering the outer piece of the motor like the suggested to fix it.

I have a brand new Bubble Magnus Curve 5 protein skimmer that I am trying to set up in my new tank. When I turn it on, it spews bubbles out of the bottom and the bubbles in the top just overflow into the cup. I have taken it apart and reassembled it three times now, so I think I put it together...

There is a round barrel piece attached called a muffler. There should be a tube frm the pump going up to the muffler. Blow through that tube to assure there is no restriction. If so, it will clear.
Assure the unit is sitting in 7-8" of water. Any higher and the level in the unit will rise and cause this. The little knob that controls air mixture - Assure not wide open.

Will check the muffler tube, I belive it is clear but will check. Would that affect bubbles escaping by the Venturi? Also shouldn’t the Venturi be sealed? Not sure what is causing the back pressure forcing bubbles down instead of up.
