I was looking for suggestions on my ProCoral’s Rainbow Acro. It’s encrusting well, but it’s coloring hasn’t been too great. It’s a light orange color with a bright green growth band. I haven’t seen any of the reds or blues that it’s known for. I have it under a 400W 20K Radium about ½ down in the tank. It’s also getting light from a VHO as well. It’s getting approximately 300 PAR. I was looking at some other vendor sites and it said that it actually likes low to med light. Let me know your experience with this acro.

oh- following along on this one- the PC rainbow acro is one of the few last SPS corals I am looking for. I also want to see how this coral has done in other hobbyist tanks, all I ever see are vendor pics (and they are usually just frags)

I had this acro in one of my old tanks under a 250w 20k Radium and it held all its colors. I had it at the half way point of my tank also which was a 20H tank and the MH about a foot off the water surface, hope that helps any.

Here is a pic of my PC Rainbow. I can get a deeper blue under brighter light. Whenever I drop the light, the base becomes more orange/green.

This is an acro that I have had my eye on as well.... Especially since it caught the eye of a one jfox and it seems like it has done well for him. Didn't realize you had a frag of this too CUNAReefer, but I should have assumed ;)

Mine is about halfway down under my 120 watt Evo LEDs. It grows like a weed but I lost that blue growth ring on the base. It has all the other colors though

Nice colony CUNAReefer! Any idea what PAR it's getting?
Up until a couple days ago, the center of my tank was receiving PAR of 520. If I were to make a educated guess, I would say that the Rainbow is receiving PAR of about 430. Here are a couple older day light shots of other colonies.

I'll try and get a shot this week... I have about a 4" colony baking under a 400 wt radium halide. I have frags of it all over the tank and you do have to move it around to find that sweet spot. The colony is mostly red/pink with a hint of orange. Frags in lower light are orangeish with a blue encrusting base. In ideal light you should see pink/red/orange with the blue encrusting growth ring. I think it grows fastest under high flow and light though...
