For any members with Profilux controllers, what are your thoughts on profilux touch? Is it a useful add on accessory? I'm ready to pull the trigger on profilux 4 but trying to decide to order the mega set or the ultimate set that includes the profilux touch. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Let's see if we can get you some input. I think @d2mini uses one. Let's see if he responds here.

It's a luxury but it comes in handy. Depends on your situation.
On my previous tank, I had the Profilux in a whole different room, so it was definitely a plus to have.
Something as simple as entering feed mode would get old fast if I had to keep going into my garage and then into the fish room and then back in the house to the tank just to feed the fish.

Now my Profilux is located right under the tank behind the door of the stand.
But I still use the Touch for things because it's still easier than opening the door, bending down and making my way through the menu system.
It's also easy to see parameters at a glance.
Every morning I roll out of bed and walk past the tank on my way to let the dogs out and can quickly glance and see that everything is good.

The first pic here is my previous tank where i mounted it in the wall on the left.
The second pic is my current tank where it sits just around the corner from the tank.

Are there things the touch can do that the GHL profilux app cannot? My plan was to put the profilux 4 in the basement fishroom and rely on the app for my upstairs DT. Is that not a reliable plan?

You can use MyGHL on your mobile device. That will let you view/control the P4.

Oh now I'm just really confused! I had the same question...whether to get the Profilux Touch or skip it. Sounds like the MyGHL app on your phone does everything the Profilux Touch can do?

I like the Touch display as it's an easy interface to hit a feed timer, maintenance, manually change the lights, or adjust socket states (devices on/off) and keep an eye on vitals measured via sensors.

Required? No
Nice to have? Yes, imo

IMO, not in the same convenient way.
I don't like having to pull out my phone, open an app or browser, wait for it to connect.... the Touch is just always there/connected.

I imagine there might be a bit of a lag with the app as well when compared to the Profilux Touch which is directly wired to the controller.

I wouldn't say lag per say, but definitely not as quick to get to as the touch.

Here is how I have mine mounted, on a swivel mount. Shameless plug, since we sell them ;)

FYI - here is a quick video showing the Touch, and some of the data it displays, which is can be as little or as much as you want, including background image, display times, brightness, etc.
