Hello new to saltwater,

I’m a new owner to a Red Sea nano max XXL. What is the correct height for this protein skimmer dam. What purpose does it serve? When to lower it and raise it etc..

I have not had a lot of luck with nano protein skimmers. I bought a fleece roller and got rid of the filter socks and it does a fantastic job. I added a basket for macro algae where the protein skimmers would normal go. This seems to be a good set up for me

I do not at this time and I am away from home. Red sea sells a nano fleece roller and so does innovative marine. You can look up on youtube how to use them. They are simple additions

That just controls the water in that baffled area. Some skimmers need a certain water level range to function properly. You can adjust to your skimmers needs.

Ahhh, I see now. Raising it also raises the foam. Lowering it lowers the foam. I assume if foam is pouring out of the side of skimmer I need to lower the dam.
