THIS IS NOT A CHROMIS. Its a scar face damsel. Turns into the second picture. I had one and it was mean. Got fooled and ordered a group of 3 thinking they were actually chromis and thats what they looked like. Well give them about a month and they turn into this monster!!! (Second picture). Dont see em for sale much but since Ive seen a few I wanted to let people know so they dont have an evil murdering ugly damsel in their tank when it changes!

A lot of damsels enter trade as "chromis". Lemon chromis seems to be another species that ends up like this. Plus, some of the chromis species are more on the aggressive side as well. Some of the damsels are more peaceful as well.

At the end of the day, if you don't have experience with a species, research it before purchase. Especially damsels and chromis.

Yeah, this was one of my first fish when I got started. Totally got played by a LFS learned my lesson from that. I didnt mind him, he just was a mean fish lol. But kept to his cave, which earned him the name Troll.

I fell for the same trap. There are yellow chromis but very hard to find.

A LFS told me they had yellow chromis. I bought one. He grew and is aggressive as heck and just guards his cave. Harasses and pummels almsot any fish I try to introduce. So I had to stop getting fish

When I questioned the LFS about this, because naturally I was upset my peaceful fish is actually an aggressive damsel…they had already figured it out by experiences in their own displays. Turns out the LFS saw yellow chromis on the wholesale list, ordered them, and then the supplier couldn’t get them and substituted lemon damsel.
