The pump that came with my used 24gal biocube (Marineland MJ1200 pump) failed. We tried to see what is wrong with them pump. I noticed that when plugged in it hums or vibrates for a second and then stops (like something is stuck in it). The motor housing also feels warm. I am currently taking water in a cup from my tank and pouring it back in to get oxygen in the water. What pump can I get as a replacement for this one (I don't want to modify my hood or anything. I typed it in Amazon and they suggested the Cobalt Aquatics MJ1200 powerhead/pump. Any other suggestions on a different pump since I need to buy a new one anyways? I have included a picture of the pump I currently have.

It sounds like it just needs to be taken apart and cleaned. It's pretty simple, sounds like the impeller is getting stuck. Otherwise that's a great little pump.

soak in vinegar should clear it out

Thank you so much! I got it cleaned out and it is working again. I was so worried because it is a tank in my classroom and we have Parent-Teacher Conferences tonight and I wanted it looking good.
