Need a positive ID on this purple slime that has started covering my birdsnest. fairly sure it isn't cyano as I have had that before and this looks and feels nothing like it. I believe it may be some sort of sponge. It only seems to be affecting the new growth areas. Recently it has started to show on one of the tips of my pocillopora. Has not affected anything else. Thoughts? BirdsNest_healthy.JPG Birdsnest_sponge1.JPG

It doesn't look at all like any kind of sponge I'm familiar with.

Lets try and get you some more help. #ReefSquad

It is firm like a sponge but slimy. A siphon will not remove, I may try dipping to see if it helps. The areas not covered seem healthy and have full polyp extension.

Edit: I definitely need a better camera or a magnifying glass
