I thought it was interesting in the new BRS Apex video that they are using a three way toggle switch which means they need two poles on the breakout box plus plus the common ground for each toggle. That way if the toggle is up, the circuit is closed and the Apex powers on a device, if the switch is in the middle position, circuits are off and the Apex runs the device in auto mode and finally if the toggle is down, the second circuit is closed and the Apex turns off the device.

You could just plug the power heads into a power strip & use the off switch to feed your tank then just turn on afterwards

I am still not clear the logic behind the 3 Way switches

Hi ngvu1 - Looks like they want full control to manually turn on and off the device or allow the Apex to manage the resource though normal programming. So if a manual switch closed through a breakout box directs the Apex software to turn off a device can you override that action in Fusion?

I agree. I thought too much about what they are trying to do....Even though the code can be modified remotely, there is still a penalty for forgetting to put the 3 way switch back to the "auto" position. I don't really care about that ATM. I just want a push button to activate the feed modeA. Is there a way to activate/deactivate the FeedMode? Let me check the manual..

They don't cover it in a ton of detail, but the guys in this video do talk about adding a physical switch to aid in tank maintenance tasks.

Simple toggle switch on the apex breakout box with a virtual outlet works fine for this, don't see why it's getting so complicated!

I agree. It should be simple!
I just see that the toggle switch might be forgotten so say you turn it on or off and forget...I might be missing something you said but the feed mode activation without having to touch the display or the electronic devices is what I am after. I don't have the display connected and the phone or computer for feed mode activation is not very convenient sometimes....

Oh, I agree. Just not sure why I need physical hardware at all when I have the Fusion app on my iPad and iPhone and can trip virtual outlets without the need for a breakout box or switches. ;)
