Put down the skimmer and walk away!

Anybody ever just have to "walk away" from your tank before you start picking stuff up and slamming it on the ground?

It's hard to make me mad really but my skimmer is so hard to get in and out of my sump which is under the tank inside the stand. I took it out to clean it up, made it look nice, tested everything and then went through the hassle of getting it back in and ready to go. Turn it on via the apex and NOTHING! Well a slight hum but no pump action. I wrestled it out, again, and bumped it a few times etc. and nothing. So I have to take it all apart again so for now I am walking away. I really want to just smash it on the ground.

Ahh I know your pain. Ive got a fluidized bed on a freshwater tank that makes me go ZONKERS when I have to turn it off to replenish the sand.

Mine always seems to pull stuff like that when I'm in a hurry and just trying to squeeze in maintenance before I have to leave. It never fails that something happens to force me to either rig it until I can make it back or be late for whatever I am supposed to be doing....

Sounds like the problems I use to have with my skimmer pumps on my Bubble Master 250. They were the old sicce psk 2500's. 9 times out of 10 when they were shut off, one or the other would refuse to restart. I was able to put the skimmer in so the pumps were fairly easy to get to.
That all changed when I switched to the psk 1000 pump.

That just happened to me with 2 skimmer pumps and one return pump in the last year! I think it's from dosing in my sump, but not sure... So frustrating! My wife laughs now when I say I'm doing only doing something for a few minutes!

. I have to physically blow air into the tube that leads to the pump to get mine going after restarting the pump. Try that if possible

I also had the PSK 2500 on my K2 Skimmer. PITA flicking the ON/OFF switch trying to start it up, and sticking finger down trying to flick the needle wheel. Finally forked up for a Bubble Blaster and all is good and happy.
