Nuvo 20 Skimmer Recommends

Howdy y’all!

I’ve been away from reef keeping for quite a while and I’m booting my tank up again. I have a Nuvo 20 and so far all of the equipment I used to run works properly minus the skimmer. I have the desktop skimmer or whatever it’s called that IM made specifically to fit in the chambers of these tanks. The pump on the skimmer is dead, which I guess isn’t the worst thing in the world since it’s kind of a turd anyways.

Does anybody have recommendations on a skimmer for this lil nano tank? I would love if it was able to fit in the back chamber. But if there’s something that would be significantly better that’s hang on the back, I would definitely look into it. The plan is to run this skimmer as recirculating.

I appreciate any thoughts in advance!

That small of a tank I would do weekly water changes and test and see if that keeps up with your nutrient load.

A bubble magus mini Q was a good fit in my IM20 but I ended up removing it and running only floss occasionally more often than not it ran with no mechanical filtration. Skimmers are not always necessary regardless what some people say.

That’s the plan, however I’m wanting to experiment with recirculating the skimmer so it’s not just for nutrient export.

I gotcha thanks for sending those. Do you remember where the air intake is on that skimmer?

TBH I can't tell

If you want to try it out I'll send it to you if you're in the states. I broke the tank down and have no plans to restart it. It's just been sitting in my pile

I use a miniq and it is a great skimmer. I do not see a way to recirculate the air however.

I just looked at re circulating skimmers and don't see how that could be done with the mini Q. TBH i don't see how it could be done at all in the back chamber of an IM20
